Tetra Potassium Pyro Phosphate

What is Tetra Potassium Pyrophosphate

Tetra-potassium Pyrophosphate is also known as Tetra-potassium Di-phosphate. It is a white crystalline powder and has a highly water-soluble nature but insoluble in ethanol. Its IUPAC name that is TKPPTKPP has the chemical formula K4P2O7, and it is an environmentally friendly compound. It is an alternative to Sodium Acid Pyrophosphate SAPP.

TKPP has a wide range of uses in the industry, as it is an essential ingredient in pet food because of its protein modifying properties and increases its solubility. It also retains the moisture of pet food during storage. Due to its wide range of uses in the industry, every country is producing tetra potassium pyrophosphate. TKPP has a great application on the industrial level as a buffering agent, dispersing agent, protein modifier, sequestrate, coagulant, and mineral supplement. On the contrary to sodium derivatives, tetra-potassium pyrophosphate has high water solubility because of its water-soluble property; it has application in the water treatment industry and cosmetic industry. TKPP is classified as a chelating and oral care agent and is the Tartar control agent that prevents the depositing of calcium and magnesium on teeth. Because of that property, it is the main ingredient of toothpaste and mouthwash. It improves dyeing quality by removing Fe 3+ and as an anionic dispersant in water-based paints. Soap and detergents builder uses TKPP

For the production of tetra potassium pyrophosphate on an industrial level, phosphoric acid and potassium hydroxide are raw materials. TKPP is a non-toxic and biocompatible compound that's why it is used as a food additive to increase the shelf life of canned foods. It is an essential component of the drying process.

SNDB Chemicals can provide 98% of pure Tetra Potassium Phosphate (TKPP) as it is the most demanding compound in the industry.
